I wanted to talk about it... specifically how horrifically toxic social media has gotten.

I'm going between the two repeatedly... for forum purposes, horizontal is better.

The whole point of this site is to bring back the 90's vibe of adults being able to talk to each other in a safe space mostly free of any toxic crap... It seems like everywhere you go online, there is someone there to harass, troll or otherwise make your day worse --- not here. I really don't like the internet how it is these days - so I hope you appreciate this community for what it is. Anyway, thanks for being here.

I'll start... Life lesson: Don't give your friends more than they give you consistently. At some point, they need to give back, otherwise, it reveals they might not actually care about you at all. When someone gives you things, you naturally want to give back, if someone never really gives back - that can mean you are potentially wasting your time and energy on something that is only there to take away from your life.

I saw Onision on TikTok live today out of nowhere and he said I should share here what I wrote there. So here goes… I was a young teen emo watching Onision like everyone else. The videos were sometimes the only thing that made me laugh, or at least distracted me, all week. I was recovering from being sex trafficked and this weirdo on the internet was somehow someone I related to. I DM’d Onision one particularly hard day. I don’t know why, I was never expecting a reply or anything. I guess I needed a void to scream into. I basically wrote chaotically that I was having a really hard time living and his videos were funny. I can’t imagine dropping that bomb on someone now that I’m 30. What was I thinking? Either way, maybe like a day or two max later, he replied. He essentially said hey, it gets better. Reaching out is a good thing. Continue to do that to more trusted sources (an incredibly polite and subtle redirect, recalling this ~15 years later), and that my message meant something to him. Well, I would never message Onision again out of pure embarrassment from being seen, but I did take all his advice. I got myself a really good guidance counsellor and stopped pretending to be fine to make everyone around me more comfortable. And I healed. This isn’t some “onision is my hero” or a god or whatever post. It’s just another, less angsty, shout in the void. Onision’s message to me, however trivial it could seem, really did change the course of my life. The right thing to read at the right time in my life. He accidentally talked me off of the proverbial ledge and out of losing this complicated, wonderful life I live. I’m married, I have a very good dog, I barely have nightmares, and I still listen to some of the silly Onision songs. I don’t tell a lot of people about this whole thing for various reasons, but that’s the story of how a YouTuber saved my life.

Long-time fan. I found his videos shortly after a rough breakup. From watching, I gained some self-esteem, changed to a healthier diet, and got into anime. He has no doubt been a great help to a lot of people. 💜

being an adult is scary and people suck, that's all I know to call it. usually stuff like that works, and a persons life gets ruined. i kinda put it in the same human garbage category as people who call cps/aps and file false claims. Someone shouldn't be able to have their life ripped apart cause 1 other person decided, fuck it, ima just be the worst person possible and say xyz. But nowadays its like, idk how to put it, people just want to believe awful stuff? Weather its on the internet or in real life it's like it just gets latched onto, no matter what the truth actually is, like you can have physical proof, but people just seem obsessed with whatever trouble or bullshit they can try to cause, and it is scary af cause literally anyone can do it

I feel like... refusing to focus on certain elements of reality helps people stay motivated... just wondering about what your specific motivations are? Like... daily... For example: My motivation to get out of bed and get things done is because if I don't I feel more miserable.

Organize something in your life (room, emails, desk, display, phone apps, anything... just improve it) Once you have done all these things, let everyone know you completed it for today. it's a complete waste of time dedicating your energy to hating yourself- the most valuable source of trust in this world is the trust you have in yourself. you're the one who has the gut feeling if something is wrong or right for you, never let self doubt or self loathing get in the way of that ◡̈

Don't put a relationship above your goals and dreams. I've heard so many stories of people choosing their partners over going to their dream college or accepting their dream job only for their relationships to blow up in the end. Choose yourself.

The Last of Us, it's just so good. It was the first console game I ever played, I was so excited. And the game was actually intense af especially since it was the first I'd ever played and I suuuck at video games. Had me leaned forward, talking to myself all loud and shit trynna get the courage to face bloaters 😂

Green flag off the back of this - when you challenge someone on the validity of what they are saying, you prove that they are wrong, and they actually own it, apologise, and are comfortable being wrong on occasion. Red flag if they double down or start attacking you out of spite of their pride.

red flag: overuse of therapy speak, i.e. “toxic,” the throwing around of the words “narcissist” and “manipulator”, anyone who only has “crazy exes”, people who are eager to gossip and be mean about others behind closed doors green flag: being on the spectrum, because i am on the spectrum, and once it’s established that we’re both on the same weird brain wavelength there’s a huge relief in knowing i don’t have to entirely mask myself. also when someone can be truly funny without it being at the expense of someone else

The fact that the first thing on your mind was negative people implies you might be negative yourself... don't worry, I am too... just saying lol. You did go on to talk about people who want to be miserable no matter what - but you should consider maybe those people are actually mentally impaired... and it might not be their fault. Doesn't mean you have to stick around tho. As a dad, I see this a lot... "inside voices" do matter - but when a kid is just having fun, it's important to let them... hate seeing people try to have others share their misery who still have some hope I agree, if you're going to say you are a victim of someone, show the receipts. When that happens... do you call them out? I've gotten in the habit of calling them out... like recently, someone told me a ridiculous story, so I called them out, straight up said it wasn't true... they got offended... and then... wait for it.... THEY PROVED IT WAS TRUE BY GIVING SPECIFIC DETAILS... it was actually awesome... thinking someone was lying, then Googling what they were talking about based on their details and finding out it was all actually real???? Broooooo... anyway, yeah, so I want to call out "Lies" more because... who knows what percent of them I'm actually wrong about? They say "trust but verify" which is just... not even trusting... lol... but the verify part will help you gain trust for them in the future. That's a mood... when it happens, it's nice... till that person later royally fucks you over and makes you wish you never helped them. RED FLAG: You catch them stone cold lying, ever, about anything. BYE. GREEN FLAG: You look up what they just told you because it sounds insanely untrue, and find out it's completely true... woah! In the future guys, I hope you fuck around with text colors... IT'S DOPE!

Just thought of another thing. I would love to go to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. I am planning to go there this October with my mom and sister so hopefully it will work out!

I really wanna go abroad at some point. I wanna go to Germany. I wanna see Cologne Cathedral in Germany and maybe Oktoberfest. Other than that it would just to be happy and healthy with my family. And maybe make a close friend along the way haha.

It's interesting that they've teenified Spiderman by doing the cartoon film and even Tom Holland's Spiderman is still in school. I guess Batman has always felt like a more mature character? Tbh, I like Spiderman. But if you put Batman up against pretty much any other superhero for me, Batman will win. The Dark Knight trilogy are legit some of my favourite films.
