  1. greed. gluttony. hubris. resentment. envy. whatever is within humans that drives us to crave more than we could ever need, to put others below us, to gratify our egos by comparison. hunger for power and control. that would eliminate obesity and war and so much human suffering. I almost said selfishness, but then I thought about it and refrained, because there's an argument that self-seeking impulses got us this far as a species. How about excessive selfishness?
  2. I shared my poetry online with strangers before I ever gathered the courage to share it with friends. I was able to find the title of an educational cassette tape about dinosaurs that I listened to as a toddler based only on remembering short snatches of a couple of the songs. I often sing bits of songs into Google because I can't remember what it's called or the artist. Some of my most meaningful friendships have begun online.
  3. 7/10 I'm quite low mood, but I have learned so much about myself lately most of it was uncomfortable and painful, but that's still positive. better than not knowing!
  4. The process of convincing myself that my excessive niceness was for the sake of others, rather than to gratify my own self-perception and feed my ego. I wanted so badly to be a "good" person and to be validated as a good person by others, and over time that fixation became as much about how people viewed me as the kindness itself. It became a persona, a performance -- a sincere one, but a performance nonetheless. Virtue signalling, I guess. I'm still working on that. Acknowledging your own selfishness is hard! What has helped a lot is thinking "would I be this kind if nobody was watching?" and making a point of doing good deeds that nobody will ever know about.
  5. if so, who? if not, why not?

  10. 4/10 i just found out someone I thought I was incredibly close with was hiding something from me that I don't think I can overlook. Part of me wishes I could, the other part of me hates the part of me that wishes I could. I wish humans didn't suck as often as they do

  12. hahahahahahahahahaha is there a swear jar or something? Do you work with a bunch of innocent souls? 😭 Let's say it doesn't count because I want another example I apologised to a door for elbowing it accidentally earlier Also I said "dude, don't reductio ad absurdum me, what the fuck" and then laughed because of the contrast
