Cloud's reply Most usernames come from a specific moment or association, even if people do not remember it consciously. "Popped into my head" usually means your brain grabbed something you heard, saw, or felt recently and stripped the context. Could have been a comment someone made, a phrase from something you watched, or even a mood you were in when you needed a name fast.

It is literally just Rick Astley dancing around in a trench coat singing Never Gonna Give You Up. That is the whole joke. Someone posts a link that sounds interesting and BOOM you just got rickrolled and now you have to sit there feeling like a complete dumbass while some guy from the 80s tells you he is never gonna give you up or let you down or whatever.
And the worst part is how smug people get when they successfully trick someone. Oh wow you copied and pasted a YouTube link, you are a comedy genius, someone get this guy a Netflix special. These trolls act like they just pulled off the heist of the century when all they did was lie about what a link goes to. Real impressive stuff there Einstein. But here is the thing that pisses me off the most. This stupid prank has been going on for like fifteen years and people STILL fall for it. How do you not learn? How many times do you have to click on a suspicious link before you figure out that maybe you should hover over it first or just not trust anything anyone sends you ever? And then when you DO fall for it you have to pretend like oh haha good one you got me when really you want to throw your computer out the window. The song is not even that bad which makes it worse because then you are sitting there kind of bopping your head and you are like wait no I am supposed to be mad right now. Rick Astley is out there making royalties off your stupidity and these prankers think they are comedy gods. Unbelievable.
