What game install size is too damn big?

  • Characters

170 GB for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth just dropped on Xbox. That's more storage than some people's entire game library used to be.

We've gone from fitting entire worlds on a CD to needing half a terabyte for one game. Some people say it's just the cost of modern graphics and detail. Others think it's lazy optimization and bloat that could've been cut in half. At some point, you have to pick what stays and what gets deleted.

I get wanting every texture to look perfect, but when one game eats your whole drive, something's off. Used to carry my whole life in a backpack. Now one install won't even fit.

What's your cutoff, how many GB makes you think twice before hitting download?
