So I've been trying to lose weight - so far I stopped consuming cheese, dairy in general, I stop eating before 7:30pm every night (metabolism slows down at night/down period supposedly, so better for me not to eat during that time).

But... not really losing a lot of weight... at all...

Despite being hungry at nights - I ask, what am I suffering for if it's not working?

Anyway - thinking about turning my diet literally to that of Little Foot from Land Before Time at this point - but then again, he winds up being massive so who knows.

What do you know works?

For reference, I look the same as always - not fat or anything, but not satisfied either.

Intermittent fasting is pretty effective, follows a similar philosophy as you've suggested not eating at night.

Otherwise it's pretty much being more active and being more disciplined with food. Calorie counting is not fun but you learn a lot about what you are consuming when you do it for a month. MyFitnessPal is a great app for that.

Try and get your 10k steps in per day, and do a full workout at least 3 times a week.

^^ when I was super disciplined I followed this and lost 10kg in 3 months.

I’ve lost 35 pounds this year! All because of calorie deficit. It’s seriously the only way. Like other stuff can help but calorie deficit is the way to go.

I usually don’t eat until like 2pm so it’s kinda like a fast I guess. But look for a calorie calculator then find the calories you should eat in a day to lose 1 pound a week or 2 depending on how fast you wanna lose. Then follow that strictly.

What helped me a lot was eating a ton of protein. I think it’s like a gram of protein for every pound you weigh. Protein keeps you full because it burns slower than other foods. Drink lots of water. It makes you less bloated, and I drink peppermint tea morning and night to also help with bloat. Also I shop at Costco so I get bulk fruits and veggies and since I don’t want them to go bad I find my self reaching for those for snacks a lot. Most importantly for me, keep eating the foods you love just make them healthier or lower calorie. There are so many resources from TikTok and YouTube. I’ve made low cal nachos, pizza, subsâ€Ļ list goes on.

It might help to have a general idea of your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), keep a food diary for a short time and compare them. I'm seconding temporary calorie counting as being useful.

Foods that aren't calorie dense but are high volume are pretty helpful if you find that you get hungry later on. Also making a point to drink lots of water as you eat can help with satiation.

This is probably not helpful, but getting an active dog was one of the best fitness decisions I ever made!

Liposuction! JK, but they have come out with weight-loss injections like Ozempic. Have you considered trying those?

The update... moving to 6pm stop eating time, and 8am start eating time - I heard this phrase "EAT WITH THE SUN" and that seems kinda cool and catchy... also, apparently when you fast daily, like I described - 6-8pm to 6-8am, you gain "mental clarity" whatever that means ☠ī¸

I was weighed at the Doctor’s office this morning and noticed I lost a little bit more weight since the last time I was there which was in June. So far I’ve lost around 20 lbs this year and it has to be from working. I stay pretty active with my job so physical activity helps with losing weight but that’s obvious. I don’t eat healthy but if I fixed my diet, I’m sure I would lose more weight as well.

Usually a doctor won’t prescribe you a weight loss injection unless you are obese or morbidly obese. You can still get it from like med spas that do Botox and what not. I don’t really know how I feel about weight loss injections. I think they are good for the right group of people. But for people who only have like 20–10 Pounds to lose maybe not.

Still stuck at the same weight. I stop eating food before or at 6pm every day - and I've peaked. Started at 193, stuck at 172~

I am right on the edge of my goal weight range (120-130lbs) again after some months 10lbs heavier. I feel great. I can wear crop tops again and my stamina is better.

What amazes me is that as soon as I stopped trying - when thoughts of food and shame and self-flagellation faded - I started to succeed.
