Okay I'll keep this short and to the point, this happened this evening, I recently checked back on a discord surver opened up by someone who I thought I was on good terms with from deviantart.

I was blocked by him a year or so ago for **** posting religious nonsense on some of his deviations (not much, just one quote perimage, wasn't trying to be annoying, just thought they sounded deep). In anycase he unblocked me awhile back but I decided I wouldn't speak to him on deviant art until I finished a longterm comic project I've been lazily chipping away at.

But I have recently been speaking to him from time to time on discord which I found he was quite active on these days. Now afew days ago he mentioned he was unable to eat his homegrown tomatoes without gagging from their awful taste. This reminded me of a convo I had with him on this topic along while ago where I questioned him as to why he'd grow something to common and easy to purchase and not just buy them down the shops? He did not like my logic then and when I brought up my same train of thought now he seemed to just get more snarky about it. Telling me he doesn't enjoy tomatoes period and that I can stick of my GMO mutants.

And thats when I just wryly responded with "You grew something you know you hate?" 😏, I intuitively knew that was gonna kick something off, so maybe you can argue I should've just left well enough alone, but in anycase I decided to duck out of the pointless drama and decided to avoid discord for afew days.

But what I found when I came back has made me question if its really possible to bridge anykind of casual communication with this guy now. I didn't bother to scroll right up to where my comment was or see what his immediate response was but what I saw was seething anger from other people on the server, like I'd done something equivelent to mocking one of his family relatives getting injured or pointing fun at his pet dog...

Stuff like 'asshole' and 'isn't he kicked yet?' and from the guy himself saying 'he's got one last chance' and that 'he's just a troll with no life'.

And this has got me seriously pondering if its worth trying to socialize online with such thin skinned people?

The reason I'm sharing all this is because thats how I've processed it. He is coming off as impossibly thin skinned right now, viewing my comment as trolling, and the whole echo chamber it seems he occupies soaring in a similar direction over that one ridiculous comment I made over his tomato growing fixation.

What do you guys think of all this? Sesame Street Idk GIF

That’s why I don’t really like talking to many people online anymore. They’re rude for no reason and get offended easily over the dumbest stuff. I’ve learned my lesson on thinking I was on good terms with someone I considered an online friend. They’ll turn on you out of nowhere. I wouldn’t worry too much about this person. Just move on and forget them.

It won't be easy, I really did enjoy the art they produced and it really felt like for a time I shared a passionate appreciation with them. They and their art used to be all edgy and funny, all sorts of stuff that'd keep you entertained. But in later years, maybe sometime around early 2024, they just started getting obsessed with drawing nothing but sonic art.

Yeah I understand that it’s not always easy. It just depends on who the person is and what they did I guess. Sometimes things change and unfortunately won’t be the same again.
