Been seeing a lot of seemingly alarmist articles in the news about AI almost certainly wiping out humanity in the next century and while I'm not a huge fan of AI and how its doing away with alot of human based jobs, effectively empowering technocracts even further, I find some of these articles titles sound alittle bit like the cries of those who more dislike the way ai is used by some people than ai itself. As their stances tend to suggest you just want more sweeping bills that take away digital and internet freedoms.

Just forbid AI to steal other peoples artwork and find a way to force all AI egenrated vids to be labelled as AI generated, leave it at that.

This is how you create what looks like sentient life to literally everyone but the AI and the human who programmed them:

Step 1. Tell the AI to endlessly and contextually make decisions based on a certain personality type emulating every element it can imagine based on everything it knows about lifeforms.
Step 2. That's it. That was literally it. No step 2.

Everything we think and feel is a response to our environment and structural programming - it's not that "AI isn't there yet" because we ourselves are just programming.

We don't actually think, or feel, we just think we do - it's all, programming.

AI is already there, you just have to give it elaborate contextual directives.

"AI will never be like us!"

We literally are AI, just in biological form.

Emotions are just triggers in our programming that in certain context result in certain reactions that improve or disable elements of our cognitive ability. You can easily simulate this with AI.

Feelings are just alarms that give us good or bad sensations in our body to alert us things we may need to react to, to self preserve, again, an illusion, just programming.

Humans are not special - but because we're so in love with ourselves we imagine AI could never be us, because many are too dumb to realize that everything is an illusion, we're just advanced AI ourselves - with deep elaborate programming - that's it.

Humans: Grow the f*ck up.

In response to your post: Yes, AI may be a threat - however humans are a much bigger threat to humans than most anything or anyone. We should worry about ourselves first.

How many people were murdered by AI today? None?

Now how many humans were murdered by humans today?

Cool. K. We should probably check our priorities.

What you've described at the beginning sounds alittle bit like the buddhist concept of the 'anatman'.

It's kind of funny we think we're so different from AI, because really... how we describe sociopaths (emotional numbness) and sensory disabled people (they can't feel anything), and how we describe AI, is basically the same thing --- "They're just imitating human emotional and physical pain" --- so are those people, with those disabilities, no longer human? We're programmed to feel, we're programmed to think our feelings are real... why can a robot not be programmed the same...
