If you believe in ghosts, demons, angels, gods etc. without evidence, what is to stop you from believing in anything without evidence?

I feel if someone can convince themselves of the nonsense that thousands of religions fabricated (this is a fact as they logically cannot all be true), they can convince themselves of anything, and at that point, you're not dealing with someone who lives in reality, and maybe, you should avoid them, as the next thing they make up, may be about you.

My grandmother was a Christian. There was an immense strength in that. I'm sure it got her through a lot of hardships

But being around her was difficult. Because she didn't just have her own reality -- she imposed it on everyone else.

I don't have a problem with anyone thinking things that seem obviously irrational until they start policing anyone else based on those beliefs.

Also admittedly it seemed contradictory and silly to me -- she believed in God but not Satan.

Christian life hack: you can't go to hell if you ignore the parts of the bible you don't like? 😭

"I believe in magic invisible people and their made up stories so everyone else must participate and obey my dellusions"

Where do you think the line is between being irrational enough to avoid or just incorrect?

Unfortunately cutting people out of your life can result in them hating you. That would mean having a crazy person who believes anything as an enemy. Worst kind of enemy. So you don't cut anyone out. Just walk on eggshells.

No advice, just caution.

I hate walking on eggshells.I've cut many people off because i was honest and called them out on their shitty behavior towards me.They didn't expect a reaction,so i gave them my unfiltered honest yet polite answer.

I don't believe in any kind of religion, but i'm still questining god or some higher power is there or not...

I live in a Muslim country which i hate the most out of all religions.I've read all of the holy books(Incloding Mormon ones too)and i think it's human made and literally almost every book says kill or hurt whoever doesn't believe,LGBTQ+ people and almost all of them have issues with women.

Isn't God supposed to be all loving and havent all of us created by his image?

What holy books would you recommend? I'm working my way through the Bible right now. I'd like to read other holy books -- I'm making a list. I just did the Tao.

After the 3 big ones(You will be shocked at Quran) i suggest Mormons and amish books, then try paganism, then really B.C beliefs(some say mythology is the very first footsteps of religion)

I've heard this before. I asked a couple people who are Muslim for their opinion on it back then. There was some agreement, but also some claims that the interpretation is the problem, or that people cherry pick what verses they want to justify oppression.

Can you give me an example?

As a muslim

Ppl do intrepet what they want to belive or understand it wrong

Even Muslims sometimes intrepet in a wrong way so they can do bad things

Terrorism

Kill ppl

Woman actually have alot of rights

We have the right to be educated

Choose we we can marry

We can have leadership positions

. We can also divorce our husband even if he refuses

Some examples

The problem is ppl take the words to the extreme

Kill ppl

Abuse ppl etc

Alot of woman wear the headscarf their choice

Some their parents make them

The niqab which is the woman fully veiled is actually not something u have to do ppl choose that (example of extreme faith) even put gloves

The LGBT yes they don't approve of it

Its more society then the quaran itself

Neither does the Bible

We are suppose to respect all religions

And we dont kill ppl only in self defense

If we are being attacked

ppl ofc use this to di bad things

Misinterpret and extreme

Ppl misinterpret and change things to make what they do justified

Though its a sin

Its more society all the things ppl intrepet and do

I mean cause i edited the its more society in the wrong place

Edited by Hannah Newera

To what extent would you say LGBT is disapproved of?

In Iran I know they're trans-friendly, but for homophobic reasons. It's safer to transition if you're gay than live as gay

I've heard people say they'd throw you off a roof in Gaza for being gay but I'm not sure how much of that is hyperbole if

Actually! Can I ask you something! What makes you believe Islam over any other Abrahamic faith?

Is it how you were raised? Or something specific that makes you believe that it's superior?

Oh yeah, most muslims say the interpretation is bad, that the translator has made mistakes ,Arabic words have many meanings etc.

Well, prophet Muhammad didnt even know how to write and read and arabic language wasnt even...invented.

As usual they try to curve it and cherry pick it to themselves.

What's more shocking is that some women agree to this!

Surah An-Nisa Ayat 34

Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband’s] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance – [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.

So basically it says to beat them after the 3rd warning. This book permits men to rule over women NO matter what, prison them in their houses, much more.

Just check Afghanistan now.this type of "ruling"what they call Sheria.

anyone defens Sheria is corrupted.

Ppl get put in jail and there were two hanged in saudia arabia for being gay

. The extreme

Here in egypt they get put in jail

The ppl intrepet the quaran in their own way to justify their bad actions.

Then ppl say muslims are bad

Some ppl do things to the extreme

Wear niqab.

Abuse woman

Kill ppl of other faiths say its justified) terrioism)

Even ppl if they take off the hijab

Alot of ppl shun them

Some ppl say nail polish is bad

Listen to music

Male and women seprate area for wedding.

They do it abit much

I was born Muslim

Parents are both Muslim

Automatically Muslim

My parents are both atheists, and my mum is very uncomfortable when I date women because she has a bad impression of LGBT culture and morality. But she's willing to accept it

I know a couple of female Muslims who had a hard time with their parents when they were young. Their parents used the Qur'an to justify abuse.

I remember one of them saying her dad used to tell her "you're my property" but he could never point to the part of the scripture that said it was acceptable to treat his daughter that way.

My point about ppl justifying their actions but it not being in the quaran

Ppl are so extreme its ridiculous

No wonder so many ppl Muslims are bad

Its the media and the ppl who are extreme

I lost my friend to this causd she was so adamant that the quaran says kill ppl who are not Muslim

Doesnr say that

Also the questions are nice dont be sorry i like your curiosity

I believed when i was young about gay is a sin since that was what u was taught unill one day i saw a video of a couple being hanged for being gay

Cried alot

Never believed it again

I was like 15

Yeah! that checks out with what you said exactly. It's sad to hear people using god as an excuse to do harm.

Doesn't it say the opposite? No compulsion allowed in Islam -- you can't make people convert or punish them for not converting? That was my understanding.

12 minutes ago, Hannah Newera said:

I think that's important -- questioning what we're told is true. I'm so sorry you were hurt. That's honestly one of the issues I have with having faith myself -- the unfairness of the innocent suffering

Edited by perpetually

Ppl understand it in different ways

Yea its the opposites but people who are extreme justify their action that god told them to do it it says in our book

Not true

We are a peaceful religion

Though ppl ruin this with dumb actions

I dont mind a healthy debate or convo. About ppl thoughts and ideas about islam

That was my issue to

Why do innocent suffer

I mean even if there is a reason it sucks either way

Struggle alot with it

You know what I'm super curious about actually! What's the equivalent of heaven for you guys?

I know about the houri thing but is that true for women? How does that work with lust being sinful?

We're talking about supernatural things here. Asking for the sort've evidence you're asking for, like say the evidence we have of things like dinosaurs for instance, misses the nature of the subject matter you're dealing with.

There is heaven and hell

But ppl are suppose to only have sex after marriage

U are shunned if u do that

Ppl will look at you different

Many ppl ofc dont stay pure

Ithey live their life

Heaven is jannah

Hell is jahanam

According to the quaran as well if u sin and go to hell your punished for a while in hell then u go yo heaven

Ppl always say you will go to heaven or hell even if they sre not god they think they can judge ppl

Like if u get divorced

Or take off your hijab

Society sucks lol

you know what bugs me about that? the threshold for heaven is so high if you're Christian. if I were to convert right now, died and went to heaven right now, nobody that I know would be there.

U never know

Im just saying what thw quaran says

Im not even sure

I believe in ghosts, but I call them spirits. I strongly believe our loved ones come around when we need them most... I've seen my father, my grandmothers and my mother. When I was a child , when my dad moved us to Moses Lake ,our house backed up to a old pioneer graveyard..my bedroom window faced it. I was around 7 I saw a few spirits

Ft Lewis Washington is haunted too.
